Name of Ancestor: KIRKLAND FAMILY
Query: Would like to hear from anyone doing research on the KIRKLAND families of
Buncombe, Jackson, Macon, and Cherokee Counties, NC. I can go back to my 6th ggfather,
Nathan Kirkland, he was born ca 1750. Known sons, John Jackson Kirkland and Benjamim
Kirkland. John married Sarah Shelton, of the Buncombe Co., NC area. These Kirkland's were
later in Jackson Co., NC Several Kirkland's later fought during the Civil War with Thomas'
Confederate Legion of NC. Some of Nathan's descendants, moved over the NC border into

Name of Ancestor: Joseph Kennedy, Jr.
Query: My Kennedy's settled in Mecklenburg County, NC during the 1760's. My 5th
ggfather was Dr. Joseph Kennedy, Jr., he came to Mecklenburg County, NC with his father,
Joseph Kennedy, Sr. (b.1700 N. Ireland d. 1774 Mecklenburg Co., NC. And brothers John,
Thomas, and Felix Kennedy. Dr. J. Kennedy, Jr. had a son Rev. Samuel Jennedy, he married
Elizabeth____?_____, maybe Alexander. Where did he preach?? Some of the Kennedy family is
buried at Sugar Creek Presby. Church. My Kennedy line moved to Monroe County, TN prior to
Civil War. Would like to hear from any Kennedy's and related families, Curran and

Name of Ancestor: John KING
Query: Seeking information on John King, SCT>US c. 1860. He married Janet Greig Jack
in Baltimore, MD, 5/14/1860 (they met aboard ship), and they settled in Raleigh, Wake
County, NC. Janet died in 1910 in Baltimore, John before her, probably in Raleigh. Any
help would be appreciated.
